If you are looking for accommodation in Patnem, you could do a lot worse than check out Shiva's Place. About 8 beach bars to the right if you go down the "main road" leading to the beach, Shiva's is run by RK and his family, and a nicer crowd you couldn't hope to meet.

Accommodation is coco huts with attached or separate shared shower & toilets. There is a restaurant and internet connection.

Prices are R400, R600, R1200 per night.
