Colomb sold to the Russians! - World Exclusive

The Russians are coming to the small fishing hamlet of Colomb, near to the tropical gulag of Palolem, Canacona, Goa after a huge illegal land deal.

With a greedy cynicism worthy of her conquistador ancestors, Maria Figueroa, 92 and owner of the land upon which Colomb stands has sold 100,000 m2 of it to Russian "businessman' Daniel Sorokov (sp?).

His plan is for a multitude of illegal permanent holiday homes in a neo-Stalinist wonderland covering every square inch of land not currently occupied by the families who have lived here for generations. There will also be whorehouses to service the visitors and provide much needed employment for local women, as in other parts of Russian Goa (I totally believe everything printed in the Heraldo & Navhind Times).

Did I mention that this was illegal? Well, it is. ILLEGAL. Unpopular too, except with cynical businessmen salivating over the thought of all those roubles. These types are not locals anyway, so fuck them.

News of this deal has been circulating in Canacona since it happened on December 24th 2007, but as yet no newspapers have raised the issue, and no political parties have seen fit to comment. Pay-offs are suspected.
